Pioneering surgery schoolgirl loses her legs and learns to skateboard.
I am so grateful to Mr Marks and his team for the amazing work they did to save Rosie's life. It is just wonderful to see her see her living life to the full.
Holger Scheuermann described a condition in 15 - 17 year old farm boys with a sharp bend the back. This condition can sometimes present with a severe un-sightly deformity and at times cause pain either in the bent portion or in low back. Although flexible early on, it can become very rigid and cause various problems due to the appearance. A full spine MRI is usually performed to exclude any underlying spinal cord related problems. The treatment for this condition is customized to the individuals' problems. If physiotherapy does not improve the pain, surgery maybe required. Although surgery is usually performed from the back, in some selected cases it may be performed from the front (through the chest), to reduce the spinal curvature to a more acceptable alignment.
